“If you’re screaming because I’m here,” she said in the same excited tone that she’d used in my dream, “please don’t. I’m not going to hurt you. If you’re screaming for some other reason, by all means, continue.”

She backed away cautiously as I sat up. “What the hell,” I hissed, “are you doing in my room?” I glanced at the clock, and added, “at three in the morning?”

She sat on the floor, looking slightly ashamed. “I’m sorry. I needed someone to talk to.”

The rest of the week was very normal. Having no social life, my days were filled with school, homework, and nothing else.

When I walked into Physics on Thursday, I noticed instructions on the board, our first lab since Meenah had joined the class.  Since she hadn’t spoken to me since her first day, and seemed to have no intention of changing that, and the fact that I didn’t work in a group very well, I wasn’t at all sure how well we could work together. She’d already gotten the materials from the back table and was setting them up. “So,” I began, with no idea what I would say next.

There was a collective sigh from the class again, then a rustle as everyone moved. I sat down next to Brian, again. He was reading. Again. I waited a few seconds, then said, “So, are you just going to leave me doing all the work again?”

“Why not?” he asked. I reached over and slammed his book shut with a snap that echoed across the room.

Okay, now that I've got some time to post a description, here's one.
This picture was taken at SacHorror con, where Jewel Staite was one of the guests (best moment ever? Of course!). The light was really pretty bad and I looked super washed out, so I had to adjust the levels a bit in photoshop.
Technical stuff about the dress:
It sits on the most ghetto hoopskirt ever, made by me, ruffles are hand-dyed, the sleeves are covered in machine embroidery that took quite a while, and really that's about all that I can think of right now.
Also, if you're wondering, I made this specifically because Jewel was going to be there. This dress is my baby. :heart:

Yeah, I noticed in both the setting and costuming there's some kind of fusion between modern and mid-1800's. XDD

You can't ever see them, sadly. That's one of the things hoop skirts do. I used some pink heels that I had. One time I had stress fractured my ankle, so I had to wear sneakers, and no one was any the wiser! But if I didn't have my pink heels, I'd use something like what BenaeQuee did: [link]

:3 Buy some pettiecoats
they add volume to the skirt and make any lines or imperfections from the cage be less noticable
three or four over the cage would work :3
or just get long wide white skirts :I those work too just make sure they fit over the cage :D
